The FY21 Budget has finally arrived. The House and Senate conference committee went through the highlights of the newest version of the agreed upon budget:

FY21 budget tracking sheet Education on pages 63-72

QBE cut by 10% or $950,000.

Equalization, Sparsity, Pupil Transportation, Enrollment. growth, T & E all fully funded.

LFMS adjusted upward to keep the 80/20 split required by law.

Interesting information: Possible additional relief from CARES Act funds from the state to stabilize funding at original CARES Act amounts.(no subtraction for private school distribution from each districts funds) The state will pay out of their CARES Acts funds (hold back) to meet the private school requirement set by USED. Thank you to the State Board of Education and Superintendent Woods. Should help many districts at varying degrees.

There will be additional detailed analysis of the budget as it still must be voted on by the House. The full Senate approved the conference committee FY21 budget recommendation. Day 40 will be long…..

Senate passed Education bills:

HB 855  Assessing foster children for negative impact from trauma

HB 755 Requires local districts to provide an allotment sheets to its charter schools

HB 86  Provides a review and appeals process for teacher evaluations

SB 367  Assessment bill that reduces state exams by 5 goes to Governor’s desk for his signature.

Day 40 tomorrow.  Hooray!
