School safety is a shared responsibility that demands proactive planning, strong leadership, and strategic collaboration. This day and half workshop is designed to provide Georgia K-12 educational leaders with a comprehensive understanding of current laws, emerging safety technologies, facility security measures, mental health supports, and the critical role of interagency coordination in creating safe learning environments.

School Resource Officers and School Police:
Defining roles, responsibilities, and best practices for School Resources Officers into the school environment.
Understanding Georgia HB 268 and School Safety Law:
A detailed review of HB 268, its implications for K-12 institutions, required protocols, and how to ensure legal compliance across districts.
Facilities and Capital Outlay for School Safety:
Learn how to leverage facility upgrades to enhance security. Topics include building hardening, campus mapping, camera systems, access control, weapons detection systems, and panic alert technology. Guidance and information on school safety funding in Georgia.
Weather-Related Safety and Emergency Management Collaboration:
Developing and implementing effective policies for severe weather events. Participants will explore best practices for coordination with local emergency management agencies and first responders.
